Work is designed to teach responsibility, increase self-esteem, self-sufficiency and self worth. Work also teaches our youth how each family member must share responsibilities in order for all members of the family to benefit. In addition, a regular work schedule helps the youths develop a sense of stability and consistency in their lives. The goal is to transfer this consistency into their normal lives once they leave Mohican.
Staff personnel provide instruction and assistance in completing work-related tasks. Work includes helping youth undertake those activities which are part of normal everyday living such as making a bed, doing laundry, washing dishes, etc.
